House clings to tax breaks
The House rejected Tuesday an attempt to cut income taxes by $365 million to corporations and retirees. In the same day-long session on the House floor, representatives voted against a sales tax increase of more than $150 million that would have been created by eliminating exemptions for churches, utility bills and an assortment of charitable organizations. read more
